Not here. Internet access diskettes are showing up in
Volkswagen glove compartments. You can expect more third
parties to do the same. (Somebody on this list said "in
cereal boxes" and I didn't laugh - I agree.)
This marvelous, wonderful communication toy is STILL
a solution looking for a problem to solve. We who do
daily homage to our humble moderator are on-line because
we are leading-edge sort of folk.
Tomorrow, the great unwashed will get on the Internet
only when they have a _darn_ good reason for doing so.
Talk to thousands of computer nerds?
I don't think so.
Go visit Enhanced for Netscape sites?
Ten minutes is enough, thanks.
Gossip about my favorite TV stars?
I have a life already, thanks.
Browse in electronic bookstores?
That's kinda nice.
Connect to my bank and have Quicken balance my checkbook,
track my investment portfolio and tell me when I should
look into refinancing my home?
Well, maybe I WILL plug in that modem......
As other companies figure out ways to provide services
to their customers over the Internet, more people will
get on to take advantage of those services.
Until then, I'm delighted to talk to thousands of intelligent
compatriots, check out the latest in electronic marketing and...
well... I don't really watch a lot of TV anymore... Two out
of three ain't bad.
