> list. Although in priciple it is illegal and they could just as
> easily do it with a printed newsletter (photocopy and distribute),
> he feels, probably rightly, that they are more likely to do this
> with an E-Mail message.
My research on the topic has focused more on mass-market publications
but it may be applicible. Our surveys indicate that going on-line
does NOT reduce paid subscriptions. If anything, it may INCREASE them
by exposing the product to people who otherwise might not read it.
My suspicion is that e-mailed copies would be HARDER to share than
paper copies. One copy arrives on a secretary's desk, he or she
photocopies it and routes it to everyone in the company. With e-mail,
each copy arrives directly in a reader's private mailbox, along with
all manner of other very private mail that no one else in the company
probably sees.
