What lessons do you have for me, please? I am setting up a county service -
selling herefordshire in the UK. The idea is to overcome the total
resistance in this part of the world to the internet (biros have just taken
off here). Let's face it, it has been totally oversold. I dont want to have
to overcome this resistance head on, so a county site that's actually
useful (OK, maybe bus and train times - but I mean attractive useful not
passive useful), that in two years time Joe Public will actually be using -
is what I want to aim for.

I know this is what many business sites are aiming for - but as a community
site I hope to draw in businesses. Any nuances, please?

In Hereford 5 people are selling internet connection + free pages by
putting a few local details up and saying join that! They 'present' to the
local council, the tourist board, etc.

What key marketing angles, phrases am I missing to get across that small
firms should step into the water now. I offer free advertising space but
charge for design, entering text, etc. Why wouldn't they jump at that?
