Here at the Source (&lt;a href="<a href="http://www.sddt.com">http://www.sddt.com</a>"&gt;http://www.sddt.com&lt;/a&gt;), we have fully integrated our Web
site and newspaper, The San Diego Daily Transcript. We do everything
possible to educate our readers of the fact that the newspaper editorial
and more can be found at the Source. We run frequent house ads for the
Source, our writers are encouraged to incorporate WWW addresses and we have
regular Internet columns. We have recently begun publishing a bimonthly
Special Section in which companies can run a newspaper print ad which
advertises their Web site. We also include relevant editorial to make it a
good reference tool. In addition, we link to the advertiser's site from
ours under a special page in the Source, thus building traffic.

Using print to promote the Internet is a good business strategy. In fact, I
suggest that anyone who is considering a commercial homepage add in at
least 15% to 25% more to promote the site in relevant print or other media.
Or, companies that simply offer a Web presence should include regular print
promotions, which could be relatively cheap if bought on contract (even a 2
x 5" directory-type listing would be sufficient).
