In thinking about it, I've realized that design issues could also
become netiquette issues. For example, "Don't use black text on a
dark blue background." In the same vein, there are the target browser
issues like "Don't design just for Netscape 1.n" However, these
aren't quite what I'm looking for.
Have you come across or developed any rules of netiquette for the web,
either for a site that you have designed, or for sites that you
maintain? Would issues of "appropriate" content be considered
netiquette issues? Why? What about linking to other sites - should
they be notified or asked? What about the resultant bandwidth/cpu
load from a popular site on a shared server -- would it be good
netiquette to move it to a separate server?
I'm interested in hearing the opinions of those of you out in the
field, and I'm hoping that this ideas can spark some debate, and maybe
even lead to a set of recommendations. Thanks in advance for your input.
