* BABY BOOM. . .Unlike many Net start-ups, who provide the wiring, design,
or money, iVillage (<a href="<a href="http://www.netresponse.com/ivillage/">http://www.netresponse.com/ivillage/</a>">http://www.netresponse.com/ivillage/</a>), in lower
Manhattan, is set to provide what the Net really needs--original content.
The four-woman, one-man shop has just cut a deal with America Online (http:
//www.aol.com) for the creation of Parent Soup. Judging from its advance
work the new site for parents will have a distinctly multicultural bent,
reflecting the real lives of American parents be they single, married, gay,
straight, and often struggling to raise their kids right. And the
partnership with AOL will go beyond Parent Soup into the creation of other,
new Net products, not necessarily in AOL's domain. iVillage is headed by
Candice Carpenter, one-time president of Barry Diller's online operation.
With its largely female team, the company reflects the growing impact of
women in New York's online community.
Good luck.........DM
