As you can see, our list processor is now happily revived. Don't ask us
what happened; confluence of the moons.
The recent discontinuation of Downtown AOL as a sponsor of the list has
prompted an outpouring of queries and offers of sponsorship. As you can
see, we already have The Kelsey Group up as one of our current sponsors
(which they'll continue to be for the next two weeks). If you're interested
in sponsoring, look at
&lt;<a href="<a href="http://www.popco.com/hyper/internet-marketing/sponsor.html">http://www.popco.com/hyper/internet-marketing/sponsor.html</a>">http://www.popco.com/hyper/internet-marketing/sponsor.html</a>&gt;.
Although it's certainly not an ideal forum for discussion, I enjoyed doing
the three America Online-based chat events with Chris Locke, Thom Forbes,
and Donna Hoffman. I lined up a slate for the next five weeks, and am going
to continue with them -- with the acquienscence of the guests -- using an
*INternet* based solution.
We use a server called GlobalStage, a product formerly from Prospero
Systems and recently acquired by Quarterdeck. (Our list processor's
developer, StarNine was also just acquired by Quarterdeck!)
GlobalStage is a moderated Internet Relay Chat compliant server, which
allows anyone with a true TCP/IP connection to run *ANY* IRC-chat-client
software to participate. The server allows moderated chats, like on the
online services. There's also a custom client called GlobalChat, which you
can download for free for Macintosh, Windows, and UNIX platforms (several
UNIX flavors).
The schedule for the next few weeks is :
Oct. 10 Mary Morris, guru, sage, author of HTML for Fun and Profit
Oct. 17 Dave Taylor, another guru, sage, columnist, author
Oct. 24 Robert Olsen, Virtual Vineyards
Oct. 31 Sunil Gupta, researcher, University of Michigan
Nov. 7 Eric Ward, Netpost
... more to be announced ...
All chats will be on Tuesdays at 4 pm Pacific Time / 7 pm Eastern.

details and updates. We'll also make transcripts of the events available
via that page. (Transcripts for Locke's and Forbes's events are already on
the Web site.)
