Upcoming: Netscape standards anecdote.

Jim Clark descended on London, beatific smile and all, to launch Navigator
2.0 and Netscape's European operation on Tuesday. He was asked about
standards (of course he was asked about standards).

He said (paraphrase):
"With standards you can't be looking out for committees. You have to be
looking out for the little company that gets in ahead of you. That's who
you're trying to stay ahead of. If you wait for the committees, you're
dead"

The thing is, he's right (OK. Fight me).

Also, asked what he most liked about the Internet, he responded "the fact
that it's made me very wealthy". What did he dislike? <beatific smile> "I
really can't think of anything..." </beatific smile>.
