Intelligent agent services

I read with interest Gerry McGovern's post about the use of intelligent agents
in the music industry. I decided to check the internet-marketing archives and
couldn't get the search feature to work, so I am posting these questions:

1. Does anyone know of intelligent applications in industries other than
music? Books, for example, or medicine?

2. Does anyone know of Web presence providers that offer intelligent agents as
a third party service based on a monthly fee?
