<i>&gt;It might just be me, but I found the notion of cosmetics as "very female"</i>
<i>&gt;as striking and perhaps problematic. Further, I'd suggest that you'd find</i>
<i>&gt;a greater degree of intelligent cynicism about the fashion industry (ie,</i>
<i>&gt;that it is basically male-driven and more about $$ than meeting the</i>
<i>&gt;diversity of women's needs) among Net Women than in the general population.</i>
I agree that we need to find subjects beyond make-up, beauty etc if women's
sites are to be viable, attractive to sponsors, and be useful. My interest
is in a variation on this theme. I am interested in seeing women's sites
attract some of the sponsors out there. There are some very good sites
which focus on women and provide excellent content. I think they could be
further enhanced by appropriate sponsor(s) that are not "problematic" I
am thinking of sponsors such as New Balance, Warner Lambert possibley
Costco or Toys are Us, Sponsors that definitely appeal to women but are not
"only" for women.
