Greetings from Portland, Oregon!

After lurking a bit with this group, I'm sharing a few marketing insights
I've noticed re: promoting URLs as a marketing positioning tool.

A group we have here in Portland meets twice a month to discuss internet
marketing ideas, share new web pages and design ideas, and network
face-to-face. One member, a retailer, has a downtown storefront, and has
posted a large sign in his front window simply stating his URL. He has been
astounded by how many passers-by (both on foot and in the car) have e-mailed
him regarding his web page, which includes an online catalog! Special Note:
His URL contains his domain name, which is also his store name.....simple,
easy to remember...just like a billboard. Also, customers walking into the
store have ackowledged the sign, with most of them knowing what it means. Is
this a simple concept, or what! Also, a great positioning tool for showing
his store to be "high-tech", given it's an upscale plumbing shop!

Additionally, an enterprising netrepreneur
(&lt;a href="<a href="http://www.wavenet.com/~stickers/">http://www.wavenet.com/~stickers/</a>"&gt;http://www.wavenet.com/~stickers/&lt;/a&gt;) is now posting announcements offering to
make bumper stickers with your URL or e-mail address (any size, up to four
feet long!), promoting it as a way to inform the public of your electronic
presence! Again, simple marketing concept!

Given all the techno-babble that goes on with internet marketing, I thought
these few tidbits would prove what many of you are always saying.....the net
is just another information source for consumers, with basic marketing
concepts like KISS still the key to success!
