Coming from a software background, one concern developers may have
regarding publicly posting product releases (to others than a user-group)
is that development schedules do change. Windows 95 is a prime example of
this. Therefore they may perceive this service as a marketing mine-field.
Another may be that in software, bug fixes are not necessarily loudly
broadcast - not that the developer doesn't want to fix them, but they may
not want to publicize their bugs. Again this could be entering an area
that is considered proprietary. It would be interesting to see what
perceptions are shared (or not) between shrink-wrapped software and
licensed, customizable (a.k.a. $$$) software products.
