Independent dial-up providers without a post AT&T strategy need to
reevaluate their situation. Worldnet customer service may be clunky
today but AT&T has the wherewithall to shorten that learning curve
faster than any independent. This doesn't even take into consideration
the other nationals and the smaller long distance providers who are
gearing up for dial-up, local telephone access, cable, etc.

Bottom line, independent service providers need to look at the
born-again stage of becoming "content providers". No matter how good
your customer service and tech support is today your cash flow has got
to be in content tomorrow. ...that means re-establishing strategy
today. don't snooze, or else you'll l...

Content providers have the flexibility of developing their niche,
geographical, industry, service, etc.

That's why so many auxiliary businesses co-exist with the likes of ATT,
MCI, SPRINT, LDS, EXCEL... Nobody survives head-on collision with
freight trains. If you don't have a strategy to coexist with these
folks then go back to the drawing board and think harder. Try to
objectively define your strengths (or your unique vision of things) and
build on these, define your weaknesses and don't merely assume that
things will take care of themselves.

Strategy time..
