AT&T Worldnet

I participated in the AT&T Worldnet beta. It cames with Netscape and Eudora.
With my local ISP, I've encountered a busy signal more and more often. And
sometimes when I get through, the mail server doesn't recognize me.
(Authentication failure or something like that). This is beyond annoying.
I never had this problem with AT&T.

I had a question about AT&T Worldnet on-line registration. When my first
choice user name was already taken, I entered a second choice. Then
afterwards, I decided I wanted to change it.

I got completely false information when I called the customer service number
and selected account set-up on the phone tree (press 1 for...). I called
back and selected the technical support line (press 2 for...). This person
was quite knowledgable and helpful, although he wasn't actually able to
change the user name. He instructed me to just create another account and
abandon the other one. "It's free during the beta."

One other semi-interesting thing (only because it's AT&T) is that they will
surcharge you for using 800# access instead of a local access number.

We'll see what happenes when the floodgates open. To put it in perspective,
my local ISP gave me excellent phone support when I opened my account. And
I encountered fewer busy signals back then as well.
