The good <a href="<a href="news:">news:</a>">news:</a> Subscribers have been signing up in droves, in spite of
very little publicity on our part.
The bad <a href="<a href="news:">news:</a>">news:</a> Developers don't seem to "get it." Our fees to register a
product are very low, but the developers themselves seem reluctant to
register. I can't tell whether it is because they expect the service to
be free for them, too, or because they don't agree that registering their
products will save time and money and increase profits.
I have to wonder whether this business model is basically flawed, or not.
I resist seeking banner advertising support/sponsorship for a number of
reasons, though that model does appear to generate revenues for some
service sites.
I would be interested in hearing what any of you might have to say
regarding the matter. So I invite you to take a look at VERSIONS!
&lt;<a href="<a href="http://www.versions.com">http://www.versions.com</a>">http://www.versions.com</a>&gt; and tell me whether I'm crazy in thinking that
it can be self-sustaining through developer registrations. The site was
developed to service a very real need, and I want to see it succeed
because such a resource *should* be avaiable. I just need help in
figuring out how to insure that it does.
