Advice on guidelines for developing a brief for website production

Happy New Year !

I've been asked to provide a set of guidelines to give to companies who
need to develop a brief for website production ie something that can
help a company who is already familiar with the web to specify what they
want from a website procution company.

This is a bit of a twist on what I normally do, assisting non-netsavvy
companies to figure out what they want from the net, and then developing
sites for them.

I'd appreciate any suggestions y'all can offer, and will post a copy of
the finished guide to this list in return.
