One useful strategy for pricing publicity services is to give the client a
menu of flat-rate options based on an hourly rate. For example, using a
rate of $X/hour, you might offer to do an initial announcement for $6X,
monthly follow-ups for $2X. My experience is that clients like having the
cost defined, even if it's only an estimate or a ceiling. You could also
break your prices down further, charging a flat rate for posting plus an
hourly rate for research.
