A sophisticated and critical consumer market will treat your "under
contruction site" with a greater harshness than you do. Most consumers will
not want to fiddle with links that don't work, bad copy or poor graphics.
They will take one look, draw their conclusions, and go away. First
impressions are pretty important, particularly if you have competitors.
Generally, if a serious online consumer marketplace is ever to develop,
consumers will have to be offered the same levels of service they find
elsewhere - from the start. Probably more so, since for many people this will
truly be a brave new world that requires not just a little hand holding.
