real estate marketing in Cyberspace?

The Homebuyer's Fair (see the signature file below) has a "what's new in
real estate on the Net" page that tries to track all of the existing
efforts. (In a few weeks, we will launch our own classified advertising
space, using something we are calling a "privacy-enhanced classified"
scheme. The "privacy enhanced" concept is to try to make the ads
interactive but avoid turning our classified section into a giant database of
publicly-listed e-mail
addresses ripe for the plucking of Cantor-Siegel types.)

Basically, I believe that real estate classified advertising needs two
vital features to be of use to consumers: (1) a concentration of
listings; and (2) efficient search processes. It is amazing to me that
the majority of real estate Web sites seem to have neither
map-based classification schemes nor keyword search.

The challenge of developing an effective real estate market on line is
fascinating. So far, in my opinion none of us has come close to finding
the holy grail in that regard.
